- Paid Leave
- Paid Leave is an employee benefit that allows workers to take time away from work for personal, medical, or recreational reasons while continuing to receive their regular wages or salary. Unlike unpaid leave, paid leave ensures financial stability for employees during their absence and is a critical component of modern compensation packages, employee well-being, and retention strategies. Common Types of Paid Leave Paid Time Off (PTO) / Vacation: Earned time off used for leisure, travel, and personal rest. Sick Leave: Time allocated for recovering from illnesses, attending medical appointments, or caring for sick family members. Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML): Extended paid time off for significant life events, such as the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child (parental leave) or recovering from a serious health condition. Bereavement Leave: Time off to grieve, plan, and attend services following the death of a family member. Holiday Pay: Paid time off designated for recognized national, state, or religious holidays. Jury Duty & Civic Leave: Paid time off granted to fulfill civic duties, such as serving on a jury or voting. How It Works in the Platform 💡 Platform Note: Paid leave policies are highly customizable. In our platform, administrators can configure paid leave using three primary tracking models: Accrual Basis: Employees earn a set number of hours or days per pay period or hours worked. Front-Loaded: Employees are granted their entire annual leave allotment at the start of the calendar or fiscal year. Unlimited / Flexible PTO: Employees can take time off as needed, subject to manager approval and performance, without a strict tracking limit.
